Roger Touchscreen Mic is a recent addition to Phonak's Roger for Education Portfolio. The portfolio includes the other recent additions of Roger Multimedia Hub, Pass-around MIc and Soundfield. This wireless transmitting microphone continuously monitors speech and noise levels in the room to optimise the performance of the transmission. The new touchscreen with icons provides ease of access to the microphone functions and the swipe technology makes it easy and less time consuming to scroll through the menu. The indicator lights provide a good indicator for teachers and students that the microphone is turned on or muted. The status light around the Mute button is Red - when muted.

Phonak Roger Touchscreen Mic's internal accelerometer detects its orientation and automatically adapts, to one of the three settings available, that provides pupils good speech clarity. The three microphone settings are:

  • Lanyard mode worn around the neck.
  • Small group mode, 2 to 5 pupils, by placing the Touchscreen Mic in the middle of a table.
  • Pointing mode by holding and pointing it towards the person you want to hear.

If a DigiMaster Soundfield is being used the teacher can easily adjust the soundfield volume from Touchscreen.
This device has an audio input to connect directly to an audio output to transmit sound or it can be used with the Roger MultiMedia Hub and transmit both speech and sound.

The unit is powered by a lithium-ion battery and is fully charged, from empty, in approximately 2 hours. The battery status, with time available, is always visible on the screen.

The Roger Touchscreen Mic can be used in a MultiTalker Network with a co-teacher / speaker using a microphone and students using the Roger Pass-around Microphone. The Touchscreen
lists devices that are connected. The following wireless products communicate with the Touchscreen:

  • Roger Pass-around Mic
  • Roger Multimedia Hub
  • Roger Wallpilot
  • Roger Soundfield DM5000 and DM7000

The following microphones DO NOT work with the Touchscreen:

  • Roger Pens
  • Roger EasyPens
  • Roger Clip-on-Mics
  • Roger TableMic

The Touchscreen can only be used with Roger Receivers type 02. If you wear Phonak hearing aids the choice of receiver or receivers will depend on the model of your hearing
aid. If you wear other manufacturers hearing aids you can still use the transmitter but the choice of receiver will be dependant on the Make and Model of your hearing aid and limited to Roger X (02) or MyLink type 02.
